Good morning to you on hump day.
Have to lead off by reposting this link - to the King County election site, which shows Greg Nickels still sitting in third place. My ego can handle being wrong here, especially if Nickels loses. But what kind of upset would it be if this guy goes. That would be that the real establishment of city politics would be shaken up through either being elected out of office, being appointed in Washington, or running for higher office. That would really be something in Seattle and possibly show a serious new direction.
Now let's not get ahead of ourself. Seattle isn't all-of-the-sudden going to become Boise or something. The city is full of people who think progressively. But the funny thing about progressives is that they are quick to tell you if they don't like something you are doing. They just aren't quick to take actions like voting against you. Many would just not vote. Especially in a "small" election like this one, that saw barely 17 percent step up to the plate. Well, watch out Nickels, could this be it?
Few links:
Seattle Times coverage on the election. If you just go to their main page there's even more. Looks like the grocery bag fee failed, yet the city is voting for an environmentalist for mayor...hmm...
Many are Tweeting about the Washington primary.
Looks like Mary Bass, who certified my graduation from James A. Garfield High School will be a dog fight (pun intended) in the fall. Kay Smith-Blum is actually the mother of the most annoying set of twins I know - but they are both brilliant. The name Butch Blum might also ring a bell...
And this one may be early, but it looks like Robert Rosencrantz may get into the general election.
Yes, the P-I still exists. Check out some of their coverage.
And I'll even link the Seattle Weekly while I'm at it.
Back later, but I'll leave you with a Letterman quote:
"CBS has a tremendous healthcare package. Here is the deal. If I get sick, I can only be treated by Dr. Phil...And if I die, I get to be a corpse on CSI."
