Alright, another week has gone by and I, again, have failed to really keep up here. Chalk it up to a bad internet connection at home and some other issues.
Over the course of this week my landlord was out of town while we all-of-the-sudden didn't have hot water, the internet crashed and the cable stopped working. Right, so home was a little rough. They were gone until Wednesday so we were basically stuck.
That said, I did some cool things this week. On Monday we played in a softball game again. If any of you read my Twitter then you'll know that we were playing softball in the shadow of the Washington monument. It doesn't get much better than that. Following the game we walked up the mall toward the Capitol, sitting on the grass between the monument and Capitol building for Screen on the Green, an outdoor showing of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. For those of you under a rock last weekend I'll remind you that Monday was the 40th anniversary of man walking on the moon, so the movie choice was marking the occasion. It was awesome though, even though I didn't get home until around 1230. That is tough when you get up at 6 am the next day, but welcome to DC.
Thursday I saw an advance showing of Funny People with Adam Sandler. Absolutely hilarious. Please go see it.
This was the week it finally got humid out here. Being outside is just stifling at times. That and it's 85 while raining. Thursday was like that. Absolutely pouring will sauna-like outside. Yesterday, however, there was a day-long rain and lightning storm. Best part about living in the south.
But most of my week was spent in the office. I've taken on a new task: updating/editing our website. Heatison.org is the website for the Heat Is On program at LCV. It is charged with promoting global warming as an issue that badly needs to be addressed. It's original goal was the make all 2008 presidential candidates better on the issue, and it was largely successful. Now it is looking for a new direction and that is my task. Check it out and tell me how I'm doing.
I'll try to keep up more this week, with more interesting updates as well. For now let me leave with two pretty interesting baseball stories that came out in the same week that another one-time-rumored-to-become a Mariner threw a perfect game. First, a very interesting steroid admission. The a good story about the retirement of Brett Boone from the Washington Post. Twenty pounds from a new weight program huh? If nothing else though, he was a helluva second baseman. The Boone thing is actually part of a four-part series that includes a part about former UCLA National Champion Ed Obannon. Some may know that UW Head Coach Lorenzo Romar was an assistant on that team and now former assistant coach Cameron Dollar was a player.
Stay Classy
