Wanted to flag these two rather large stories, one that I should've hit on already this morning:

Questions are growing louder about how long W.H. COS Rahm Emanuel will remain in his current position. Rumors abound and they include a timeline that would have seen Emanuel stick around for about two years and the administration gears up for re-election (no, that is not far off), as well as one that has him leaving around the time of the 2010 midterm elections, probably right after.

However, the biggest news on the grapevine right now is the possibility of Emanuel running for the mayoral seat in Chicago right about now. He would replace incumbent Richard M. Daley, who would retire. Should that happen, Emanuel would be the first Mayor not in the Daley family, the rock of "Chicago politics" in over 40 years.

Rahm has been a force in Washington politics, so much so that those of you who know a lot about the television show The West Wing, should know that he was the inspiration for Josh Lyman.

And, in a decision that I am just not sure how to react to one way or the other, Sarah Palin has taken a position on, wait for it, Fox News.

And comedy writers just did a collective somersault.

The network has confirmed that the governor will be a regular contributor, but will not have her own show. Say what you want about Fox News, but it is the highest grossing network out there and this can only help. It isn't like Democrats watch it (other than me that is). She is sure to draw some of her millions of admirers to the network. Don't believe she has that many? Check out her Facebook page. Just look at the feedback on her last threw "notes", each with over 20,000 responses.
