Saturday Snow Day

Originally this blog post was going to be about my Friday evening excursion down by the White House. Figured there would be some good pictures and that it was only supposed to snow a little today.

Well, you should have seen me when I was done with my weekly football game today. First, I'm just happy I can feel my hands again. It was supposed to go from rain to frozen rain to snow as the day went on. It wasn't really supposed to snow until about 3ish. Liars. All of them.

It snowed, hard, throughout the entire game. I'm back there trying to throw a football without knowing if my fingers were wrapped around it. You couldn't see more than 20 feet because of how hard it was snowing and the field, well, let's just say the revitalization of the National Mall is going to have a wait a while.

Currently it is still snowing. And still hard. The thing about it is that it wasn't this big thing. Obviously being from Seattle, snow is a big deal. But it wasn't because it is more normal here that it was not big. It was because it just seemed like the natural progression. The last few weeks it has gotten colder and colder and wetter and wetter. Just seemed like snow was the next logical step. It also doesn't look like it is going anywhere soon.

Anyway, so I did go to the White House Christmas tree areas, out on the Elipse between the mall and the W.H. There is actually one big tree and then 50 trees representing each state around it. Inside the fence around there tree there are several trains and little villages. Really just a cool setup. It is interesting that Washington really is one of those towns with a lot of winter scenes, especially in movies and such. That is just like New York. The real scenes really are cool. The weather, not so much. It is rough today.

Hope you like the pictures.
