Friday is here! Good morning - sort of. And those of you who know me well know that I am just about as excited for Friday as I am for Monday. Fired up to be working that is!

Alright sorry. Few too many cups this morning. And yes, I needed them.

Well I had this all written as a "Nickels might lose" piece. But then he really lost. Or conceded today.

Nickels is right that voters want a new generation of leadership. Generally that's what it means when they vote the incumbent out. That said, you can't rain down too much on the guy. Seattle is one of few cities in the world really that wasn't absolutely rocked by the economy recently. Light rail opened, finally. And yes, he his well known for his environmental policies. Those will probably get him his next job and don't be surprised if he follows in his mentor, Norm Rice's footsteps.


Don't worry Justin Timberlake, that shot that Mario Chalmers drained to sent the National Championship to overtime never happened. Well, Memphis actually lost that game huh? So that's still good. But 38 others are gone. That's two schools and two messes left behind by John Calipari. Usually that's called a pattern. Just not in college athletics.

And speaking of this, do you think there are some people scratching their heads over the fact that the NCAA opened, investigated and closed this case less than two years after it happened, yet Pete Carroll and Co. are still surfing through the Pac-10 untouched? Even after Yahoo! made it clear what happened.

And I'm going to leave you with those two stories for now as we shop for Jordans at the office.
